Acquisition of Eurofins in genomic analysis in Germany

The French group of biomedical, environmental and food analyzes Eurofins announced on Friday the acquisition of a German specialist in genome sequencing, GATC, in the aftermath of another acquisition targeted in Finland, in environmental tests this time, this.

The amount of the acquisition of GATC was not disclosed and the transaction is expected to be completed in July. The company's annual turnover is approximately 20 million.

Founded in 1990, GATC has a "solid reputation" for DNA and RNA sequencing and bioinformatics, Eurofins said in a statement.

GATC thus counts more 10.000 institutional and academic clients, for 140 employees spread over two sites.

"This acquisition demonstrates Eurofins' commitment to genomics services," which support innovation "not only in clinical diagnostics, but also in the market for bioanalytical tests in the broadest sense," commented Gilles Martin, founder and CEO of the French group, quoted in the press release.

Year after year, Eurofins has a strategy of targeted and frequent acquisitions in all its business segments and markets.

On Thursday, the group announced its third acquisition in Finland this year, the Nab Labs laboratory group, which specializes in environmental testing, with an annual turnover of some 9 million.
